If you are a personal trainer living off Instagram, you know the ritual: post content, DMs arrive, reply between sessions, half never answer, the other half asks the price and vanishes. Your content is not the problem. Instagram is a showcase, not a shop. Here is when a website pays off and when it does not.
When you do NOT need a website
Starting out, few clients, half-empty agenda: you do not need a website, you need clients. Instagram, gym word of mouth and training well are your marketing. A website with 3 visits a month changes nothing. Spend that money on education.
When you DO need one
When any of these three happens:
- Losing leads on the way. Ten message you, two sign up. The other eight cooled down waiting for a reply or never found pricing. A website with services, prices and first session in one click rescues those eight with zero effort.
- Repeating the same 20 times a week. Prices, hours, where you train, online or not. All of it on the site, once, and you stop being a human answering machine.
- Raising prices. Nobody pays premium to a profile with a generic link aggregator. Your own website with transformations, method and bookings conveys the level justifying the rate.
What it costs and what it must have
- Landing: from EUR 280. Services per goal, prices, transformations, first session in one click. Enough for most trainers. Timeline: 3-7 days.
- Full website: EUR 450-600. Collective classes, a centre, or a blog ranking for nearby personal trainer searches.
- Agency: EUR 1,500-5,000. For the same. In fitness, where every euro counts, that hurts double.
The 3 pieces that matter: visible prices (whoever asks the price over DM and gets no instant answer leaves), a bookable first assessment session (your best salesperson) and local SEO for your city. The rest is optional.
